Live-Sound-Recording

Today we decided to do a live sound recording.

After hooking up our digital instruments such as the Kaoscillator and the Korg Wave-drum to our mixing desk, we then set up an ambient room microphone to capture the acoustic sounds being played around the space.

Big thank you to John, Ben, Chris, Richard, Joey and Zach for their collaborative performance.

Here is a sample of what we have achieved:

12.3.15

- LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION

LIGHTS - Digital drawing projected through hanging nets to create unusual lighting in the room.

CAMERA - Digital cameras and Flip recorders to take artistic photography and film.

ACTION - Drums, electronic drums and music software to give us energy and inspiration for the photography.

Big thanks to Zach, Joey, Barry and Jon, and their wonderful support. We may have been a small group, but we were definitely mighty!

Until next time,

Claire :)

-MULTI-Projection MASTERPIECE

Today we worked with three projectors, lycra screens, walls of paper and layers of white netting.

This created a 3D environment of light and colour.

All the projectors were connected to iPads, so the colour of the environment could be changed at the tip of your fingertips.

Jack is back from his holiday (yippee) so he was based at the sound corner once again, creating weird and wonderful music using LogicPro and a Kaoss pad.

Anyway, they say a picture tells a thousand words, so I will stop talking and show you pictures from today.

Enjoy!

Claire :)

-DISCOVERING the THEREMIN

This week the session was delivered by myself and Andrew as Jack is on holiday. (Check back here soon for his holiday post!)

As Andrew unpacked his sound equipment this morning he realised he'd accidently packed his theremin. As you can imagine, I found this very excited!

We added the exploration of the theremin to the original plan of working with digital drawing and projection to create a fun, and at times, very loud session.

I hope you enjoy the pictures,

Until next time,

Claire :)

-LIGHT AND SHADOWS

Using a white screen and carefully placed stage lights we created a set with which we could explore darkness and light, and see how this affected our photography.

We made paper props to change our shadows and used torches to add colour.

Jack was busy at the keyboard, with the help of LogicPro, turning the live sounds into some new tracks - ready for our club night in March whilst I worked with everyone else experimenting with lighting, film and photos.

Check back next week for more action from the sessions,
Over and out.
